Baptism - next step in obedience

Baptism

the first step in obedience (passive)! Acts 2:38

Therefore, we have been buried with Him through baptism into death in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection.

Romans 6.4,5

Baptism is ...

    ... like a funeral – ‘death’ cr  Rom 6.2,  Gal 2.20

    ... like a birth(day) – ‘newness of life’ cr  Rom 6.13,  John 3.3

    ... like a wedding – ‘united with Him’ cr  1 Cor 6.17, 19,  2 Cor 11.2

'I am His and He is mine'

  bonding in your new identity:

'... baptizing them in the Name of the Father,

and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.'

a believer in Jesus takes on a new identity,

like a bride they take on a new name,

they're now a 'Christian'

Satan’s first attack (Matthew 4) - Your Identity

  3 part being (Trinity: Father/the Head, Spirit/the Heart, Son/the Expression) - Mark 12:29-30,   2 Thessalonians 5:23, Hebrews 4:12
            internal:
                        soul (mind, will and emotion)
                        spirit (heart)

                        body (physical)

2. in the flesh (fallen nature) - Romans 7:14-end

3. in Christ (new nature) - Romans 8:1-9, 28-29, 2 Corinthians 5:17

Baptism is like a funeral (to the old nature), it's like a birth (with a new nature) AND it's like a wedding as you're united with Jesus as a member of His church, the Bride. Find a good church at - http://bit.ly/Church_ENC  and follow through in believer's baptism!
